Working with Insurance Brokers

Morgan Clark have worked alongside UK Brokers and insurance companies since 1999, and as a result, have earned a reputation as one of the most highly respected Loss Assessors in the industry.

Our aim is to work side by side with Insurance Brokers, providing them with additional support and expertise to help their clients navigate complicated insurance claims.

We take the lead from the Broker when their client needs our assistance and become an addition to their service, enhancing their offering to clients. We give the Broker the opportunity to offer their clients a 360 degree approach, with both the knowledge to place insurance and access to a professional who will manage and negotiate their claims if the need arises.

When Morgan Clark is appointed, we will:

  • Establish liability with the insurance company as quickly as possible.
  • Determine values at risk and sums insured.
  • Deal with all aspects of underinsurance and betterment.
  • Attend meetings with Insurers, Loss Adjusters and Forensic Accountants; helping to ensure all aspects of the claim are dealt with efficiently while working towards securing the maximum settlement available under the terms of the cover in place.
  • Prepare and negotiate claims for emergency interim funds, to avoid any major difficulties due to cash flow – such as paying staff and suppliers for commercial clients.
  • Advise the options available regarding temporary commercial premises relocation or alternative residential accommodation.
  • Process valuations and all contract documentation. In the event that any variations arise, we will negotiate with the Loss Adjuster to secure a fair recovery according to the policy terms.
  • Oversee the reconstruction of the building, working to ensure that alterations and improvements are at minimum or no cost to the client.
  • Prepare and negotiate settlement of all relevant claims – Buildings, Contents, Alternative Premises/Accommodation, Business Interruption (loss of profits and increased costs of working), Fixtures, Fittings & Machinery. All aspects of the policy cover will be fully utilised and all settlement options will be thoroughly explored.

What will my insurance company think if I appoint a Loss Assessor? faq plus icon to expand accordian

There is no reason why your insurance company or Loss Adjuster should discourage you from appointing your own Loss Assessor. If your Loss Adjuster is trying to dissuade you from using our services, you should question why they are against the idea of you being equally represented. After all, a Loss Assessor can only help a policyholder claim for what is legally within their insurance contract. Click here to read more about Loss Adjusters.

Doesn’t my insurance company manage my claim? faq plus icon to expand accordian

While many insurance companies will support you in the initial weeks of your claim, their only responsibility is to ensure costs are covered to restore your property and replace damaged contents, stock, machinery etc. (if applicable). As your claim progresses, you will be left with the most stressful and time consuming day-to-day elements to organise and oversee alone if you do not appoint a Loss Assessor.

What’s the difference between a Loss Assessor and a Loss Adjuster? faq plus icon to expand accordian

Loss Assessors and Loss Adjusters are both insurance claim professionals, but there is one key difference in their role during the insurance claim process; a Loss Assessor is appointed by and works exclusively for the policyholder, while a Loss Adjuster is appointed and paid by the insurance company. Loss Adjusters are expected to remain independent. Read more about the difference between Loss Assessors and Loss Adjusters here.
