Insurance claim information for homeowners
Theft insurance claims
Much like any major incident at your home, the aftermath of a theft or burglary can have a significant emotional impact on you and your family. Coupled with the stress of having to deal with an insurance claim, many homeowners will turn to us for support. Morgan Clark’s team of Loss Assessors are experts in handling theft claims valued in excess of £50,000.
Impact insurance claims
Impact from a car or lorry at your home can cause extensive damage. Once the emergency services have dealt with the safety and security of your property, you face a difficult insurance claim. It’s important you don’t lose out financially and that your life and property can return to normal as soon as possible.
Third party insurance claims
You will need to make a third party claim if you’ve suffered as a result of someone else’s negligence – for example, a neighbour, contractor, architect or surveyor. In these cases, the insurance process can be even more complicated than normal. There may be problems with the third party’s insurance cover, and they could try to avoid accepting liability. Unlike a regular insurance claim, law dictates that it is the claimant’s responsibility to prove that the third party is liable.
Storm damage insurance claims
Although storms rarely cause homes significant damage, there are times when storms, and hurricanes in particular, lead to homeowners having to make substantial insurance claims due to the impact on the structure of their home. It is always worthwhile seeking the advice of an insurance claim professional if you find yourself in this position to ensure your home is restored safely.
Malicious damage and riot insurance claims
Sadly, there are occasions when homes are damaged intentionally. Our experience as Loss Assessors has taught us that these insurance claims can cause homeowners significant distress. Having a Loss Assessor on your side can lessen the impact you feel during the insurance claim process.

Popular Questions
-
What will my insurance company think if I appoint a Loss Assessor?
-
There is no reason why your insurance company or Loss Adjuster should discourage you from appointing your own Loss Assessor. If your Loss Adjuster is trying to dissuade you from using our services, you should question why they are against the idea of you being equally represented. After all, a Loss Assessor can only help a policyholder claim for what is legally within their insurance contract. Click here to read more about Loss Adjusters.
-
Doesn’t my insurance company manage my claim?
-
While many insurance companies will support you in the initial weeks of your claim, their only responsibility is to ensure costs are covered to restore your property and replace damaged contents, stock, machinery etc. (if applicable). As your claim progresses, you will be left with the most stressful and time consuming day-to-day elements to organise and oversee alone if you do not appoint a Loss Assessor.
-
What’s the difference between a Loss Assessor and a Loss Adjuster?
-
Loss Assessors and Loss Adjusters are both insurance claim professionals, but there is one key difference in their role during the insurance claim process; a Loss Assessor is appointed by and works exclusively for the policyholder, while a Loss Adjuster is appointed and paid by the insurance company. Loss Adjusters are expected to remain independent. Read more about the difference between Loss Assessors and Loss Adjusters here.
