Third Party, burst pipe

Third party insurance claim advice for business owners

If you have suffered losses or sustained damage through the negligence of a third party – perhaps a neighbouring business or a professional such as a surveyor, contractor or architect, you can make a third party insurance claim.

Third party insurance claims in particular, can be complicated and time consuming to manage. Regularly, issues arise such as the third party refusing to accept liability, or there could be an issue with their insurance cover. Unlike a regular insurance claim, the law dictates that it is the claimant’s responsibility to prove that the third party is liable.

Should you choose to appoint Morgan Clark to represent you, your Loss Assessor will keep you in control and ensure your claim is run as smoothly as possible.

How we will help you with your insurance claim…

Our aim is to reduce the time our clients have to spend on their insurance claim. As you will have your Loss Assessor’s direct contact details, they will be your single point of contact throughout the claims process and you will no longer have to go through your insurance company’s call centre.

  • Negotiate interim emergency payments to maintain cash flow
  • Help you find alternative premises to continue to run your business
  • Compile and present your insurance claim to cover buildings, fixtures & fittings, contents and stock
  • Calculate your true Business Interruption claim to protect your business against financial loss

We will help you get your business back up and running as quickly as possible, working to secure the best settlement under the terms of your policy

What will my insurance company think if I appoint a Loss Assessor? faq plus icon to expand accordian

There is no reason why your insurance company or Loss Adjuster should discourage you from appointing your own Loss Assessor. If your Loss Adjuster is trying to dissuade you from using our services, you should question why they are against the idea of you being equally represented. After all, a Loss Assessor can only help a policyholder claim for what is legally within their insurance contract. Click here to read more about Loss Adjusters.

Doesn’t my insurance company manage my claim? faq plus icon to expand accordian

While many insurance companies will support you in the initial weeks of your claim, their only responsibility is to ensure costs are covered to restore your property and replace damaged contents, stock, machinery etc. (if applicable). As your claim progresses, you will be left with the most stressful and time consuming day-to-day elements to organise and oversee alone if you do not appoint a Loss Assessor.

What’s the difference between a Loss Assessor and a Loss Adjuster? faq plus icon to expand accordian

Loss Assessors and Loss Adjusters are both insurance claim professionals, but there is one key difference in their role during the insurance claim process; a Loss Assessor is appointed by and works exclusively for the policyholder, while a Loss Adjuster is appointed and paid by the insurance company. Loss Adjusters are expected to remain independent. Read more about the difference between Loss Assessors and Loss Adjusters here.
