How Morgan Clark Helped the Lawleys Recover from a Devastating Water Leak

Location London

Customer Mrs Sylvia Leahy

In early 2024, while on holiday in Cape Town, South Africa, Gary and Tania Lawley were informed by their neighbour about a significant water leak in their home in Maidenhead, Berkshire. The leak had caused severe damage, with several ceilings collapsing and approximately three inches of water covering the ground level of the property. The neighbour took immediate action by turning off the water and power, but the damage was extensive. Having difficulty contacting their insurers, Gary and Tania reached out to Morgan Clark for assistance.

The Claim

The Lawleys had separate insurers for their buildings (Santander Aviva) and contents (LV). The damage impacted not just the structure of the house, but also their valuable personal belongings. Marc Ross, a senior Loss Assessor at Morgan Clark, immediately began liaising with both insurers to ensure the claims were processed efficiently and the necessary repairs were carried out.

Throughout the process, Marc and the team at Morgan Clark worked closely with Gary and Tania, providing regular updates, which allowed them to stay informed despite being abroad. Given the significant damage and the challenges of coordinating between two insurers, Morgan Clark’s expertise and proactive approach were crucial in navigating the complexities of the claim. Marc’s communication with Gary and Tania demonstrated the level of care and attention given to their case. He handled all the interactions with the insurance companies, managed settlements, and ensured that any remaining issues with contractors were addressed.

Results

Thanks to Marc’s dedicated efforts, the Lawleys were able to secure a settlement of £267,545.28.

Gary and Tania expressed their gratitude, highlighting how stressful the situation would have been without Morgan Clark’s support. In their words, “it made a catastrophe bearable,” and they were thrilled with the result. The home was not only restored but improved, with repairs and renovations that went beyond their expectations. Gary and Tania invited Marc to visit once the works were completed, showing their appreciation for the role Morgan Clark played in bringing their home back to its best.
